SIADH

Inappropriate vasopressin secretion

SIADH stands for syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion, a condition where the body retains too much water because it produces excess antidiuretic hormone.

This dilutes sodium in the blood, causing symptoms from mild nausea to severe confusion and seizures.

Common causes include lung diseases, brain injuries, and certain medications.

The patient's low sodium was attributed to SIADH.
