syllabub
Whipped wine cream
Syllabub is a traditional English dessert made by whipping cream with wine or cider and sugar until frothy.
The mixture may be served as a drink or allowed to set into a soft, foamy custard.
The dish dates to the sixteenth century and appears occasionally in historical cookbooks and period-themed menus: We finished the meal with syllabub and shortbread.
