supersonic transport
Sound-barrier-breaking plane
A supersonic transport is a passenger aircraft designed to fly faster than the speed of sound.
The Concorde and the Soviet Tupolev Tu-144 were the only supersonic transports to see commercial service.
Often abbreviated SST: The SST program was canceled due to environmental concerns and high costs.
