sun bear

Malayan forest ursine

A sun bear is the smallest species of bear, native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia.

It has a distinctive golden or cream-colored chest patch, often crescent-shaped, which gives the animal its name.

Sun bears have long tongues adapted for extracting honey and insects from trees, earning them the nickname "honey bear." They are excellent climbers and spend much of their time in trees.
