sugar skulls
Día de Muertos offerings
Sugar skulls are decorative skulls made from sugar, used primarily during the Mexican Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) celebrations.
They are typically brightly colored and ornately decorated with icing, feathers, beads, and foil, often bearing the name of a deceased person on the forehead.
The skulls are placed on altars as offerings to honor and welcome back the spirits of the dead.
The children helped decorate sugar skulls for their grandmother's ofrenda.
