sugaring

Paste-based hair removal

Sugaring is a hair removal method using a paste of sugar, lemon, and water—an ancient alternative to waxing that pulls hair in the direction of growth.

In North America, sugaring also means the process of collecting maple sap and boiling it into syrup: We spent March at the sugar shack during sugaring season.

To sugar something is to coat it with sugar or sweeten it, so sugaring can simply mean that act.
