reliant
Needing others' help
Reliant describes someone or something that depends on another for support, help, or resources.
A child is reliant on parents for basic needs; an economy may be reliant on a single industry.
The word often appears with a preposition: reliant on fossil fuels, reliant upon government assistance.
Self-reliant, by contrast, describes someone who depends mainly on their own capabilities and resources.
