Stromboli is a type of Italian-American turnover—seasoned meats, cheese, and sometimes vegetables rolled in pizza dough and baked until golden.
Unlike calzones, which are folded and crimped, stromboli is rolled into a log shape: We ordered a pepperoni stromboli to share.
Named after the volcanic Italian island, though the dish originated in Philadelphia.
