Political delegates meet
A state convention is a formal gathering of delegates within a single U.S. state, typically organized by a political party to select candidates, choose delegates to a national convention, or establish party platforms.
The term also applies to assemblies called to ratify or amend a state constitution: The state convention voted to approve the new amendment.
In American history, state conventions played crucial roles in ratifying the U.S.
