soothsayings

Foretold future events

Soothsayings are predictions or prophecies, especially those claiming supernatural insight into the future.

The word carries an archaic or literary flavor, evoking fortune-tellers and oracles: The soothsayings proved accurate when the king fell in battle.

In modern use, it often appears ironically or dismissively: I don't put much stock in economic soothsayings.
