soilborne
Spread through dirt
Soilborne describes pathogens, diseases, or organisms that live in or are transmitted through soil.
The term appears most often in agriculture and plant pathology: soilborne fungi, soilborne diseases.
Crops planted in contaminated ground may succumb to soilborne infections that persist for years.
Also spelled soil-borne.
