slam dance
Mosh pit activity
Slam dance is a style of dancing at punk and heavy metal shows where participants deliberately collide with each other in a mosh pit.
The movement is aggressive but generally consensual—dancers expect to be shoved and jostled.
As a verb: Kids were slam dancing near the stage.
The practice emerged from 1970s punk culture.
