sky hook
Prank errand target
A sky hook is an imaginary or impossible device—a hook suspended from the sky with nothing supporting it.
The term appears in jokes where newcomers are sent to fetch nonexistent tools: Go ask the foreman for a sky hook.
In basketball, a sky hook is a high, arcing hook shot popularized by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, so called because the ball seems to drop from above.
The term also describes any proposed but impractical lifting mechanism that defies physics.
