side mirror

Rearward visibility panel

A side mirror is a mirror mounted on the exterior of a vehicle, allowing the driver to see behind and to the side without turning around.

Most vehicles have two—one on each front door.

Side mirrors reduce blind spots but don't eliminate them: Check your side mirror before changing lanes.

Also called a wing mirror in British English.
