blind spot monitor
Side-zone sensor
A blind spot monitor is a vehicle safety system that detects objects in areas the driver can't see through mirrors alone.
Sensors, usually in the rear bumper or side mirrors, alert the driver—typically with a warning light or sound—when another vehicle enters the blind spot: The blind spot monitor lit up as a car approached in the next lane.
