shut-off valve
Pipe flow controller
A shut-off valve is a device that stops the flow of liquid or gas through a pipe.
Most fixtures in a building have one nearby, allowing you to cut water or gas to a specific location without affecting the rest of the system: Turn the shut-off valve under the sink before replacing the faucet.
Also called a stop valve or isolation valve.
