open circuit
Current cannot flow
An open circuit is an electrical path that is broken or incomplete, preventing current from flowing.
The opposite of a closed circuit, which forms a continuous loop.
Open circuits occur intentionally through switches or unintentionally through breaks in wiring: The light won't work—there's an open circuit somewhere.
