seamark

Coastal navigation guide

A seamark is any landmark or structure visible from the sea that helps sailors navigate—a lighthouse, buoy, or prominent coastal feature.

The term is largely historical or literary now, as GPS has replaced visual navigation: The old church tower served as a seamark for generations of fishermen.
