sea witch
Marine magical being
A sea witch is a mythological figure—a woman who practices magic connected to the ocean, often appearing in folklore as someone who controls weather, curses sailors, or bargains with desperate seafarers.
The archetype gained modern familiarity through Ursula in Disney's *The Little Mermaid*.
In some coastal traditions, sea witches were blamed for storms and shipwrecks: The fishermen whispered that the old woman on the cliff was a sea witch.
