scrapple

Fried pork slices

Scrapple is a regional American food, especially associated with Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine, made from pork scraps and trimmings combined with cornmeal and flour, formed into a loaf, sliced, and pan-fried until crispy.

It developed as a way to use every part of the pig after slaughter.

Scrapple is typically served at breakfast alongside eggs, often with maple syrup or apple butter.

I grew up eating scrapple every Sunday morning.
