scale bar
Distance reference line
A scale bar is a graphic element on a map, diagram, or photograph showing the relationship between distances on the image and actual distances.
Unlike a ratio scale (1:50,000), a scale bar remains accurate when the image is enlarged or reduced: The scale bar indicates one centimeter equals five kilometers.
