Chewy beach treat
Saltwater taffy is a soft, chewy candy pulled and stretched during manufacture to incorporate air, giving it a light texture.
Despite the name, it contains little or no seawater—the association comes from Atlantic City boardwalks where it became popular in the late 1800s.
It typically comes in pastel colors and assorted fruit flavors, sold in twisted wax-paper wrappers.
