safety curtain
Theater flame block
A safety curtain is a fire-resistant barrier in a theater that can be lowered to separate the stage from the audience.
Required by fire codes in most venues, it prevents flames and smoke from spreading if a fire breaks out backstage.
Also called an iron curtain or fire curtain.
