scenic backdrop
Picturesque background view
A scenic backdrop is a painted or printed background used in theater, photography, or film to create the illusion of a setting—mountains, city skylines, forests.
The term extends to any visually striking background in real life: The Alps provided a scenic backdrop for the wedding photos.
Often shortened to just backdrop when context is clear.
