runesmith

Magical letter crafter

A runesmith is a craftsman who creates or inscribes runes—the angular letters of ancient Germanic alphabets, often associated with magical properties.

The term appears almost exclusively in fantasy fiction and games, where runesmiths forge enchanted weapons or armor by carving mystical symbols into metal: The runesmith hammered glowing sigils into the blade.
