royal standard
Sovereign's personal flag
A royal standard is a flag bearing the coat of arms of a reigning monarch, flown to indicate the sovereign's presence at a palace, ship, or vehicle.
Unlike national flags, it is never flown at half-mast—the monarch's position is never vacant: The royal standard flew over Buckingham Palace, signaling the Queen was in residence.
