championship banner
Title-winning pennant display
A championship banner is a large flag or pennant displayed in a sports arena commemorating a team's league or tournament victory.
Teams hang these banners from rafters or stadium ceilings as permanent records of achievement: The Celtics have seventeen championship banners hanging in the Garden.
Raising the banner is a ceremonial event at the start of the following season.
