rotor blade

Spinning lift surface

A rotor blade is one of the elongated airfoils attached to a rotating hub, as on a helicopter or wind turbine.

Helicopter rotor blades generate lift and thrust as they spin; wind turbine blades capture energy from moving air.

The term distinguishes these rotating components from fixed wings or stationary fan blades.
