fixed wing
Non-rotating aircraft surface
Fixed wing describes aircraft that generate lift through stationary wings rather than rotating blades.
The term distinguishes conventional airplanes from helicopters and other rotorcraft: The Coast Guard dispatched both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters to search the area.
Often hyphenated when used as an adjective before a noun: a fixed-wing pilot, fixed-wing certification.
