role player
Someone assuming personas
A role player is someone who takes on a character or persona, whether in theatrical performance, gaming, or social contexts.
In sports, the term describes a team member who fulfills a specific, often supporting function rather than being a star: Every championship team needs reliable role players.
In tabletop and video games, role players immerse themselves in fictional characters, making decisions as those characters would.
The term can also describe someone who participates in role-play scenarios for training, therapy, or sexual purposes.
