derobing

Shedding one's clothes

Derobing is the act of removing clothing, especially ceremonial garments or robes.

The word carries formal or literary overtones—a judge derobing after court, a priest derobing after mass.

It can also describe undressing generally, though with more dignity than simply "getting undressed": The derobing of the bride took place in the antechamber.
