enrobing

Dressing in garments

Enrobing is the process of coating something—typically food—in a covering layer.

In chocolate making and confectionery, enrobing means passing candies, nuts, or other centers through a curtain of melted chocolate: The truffles are enrobed in dark chocolate.

The word applies beyond food when something is draped or wrapped completely: mountains enrobed in mist.
