ripsaws
Grain-following blades
Ripsaws are handsaws designed to cut wood along the grain, as opposed to crosscut saws that cut across it.
The teeth are filed straight across like tiny chisels, each one shaving out a sliver of wood fiber.
The name comes from the ripping action—tearing lengthwise through a board: He used a ripsaw to split the plank into narrower strips.
