crosscut saws
Lumber-felling partner tools
Crosscut saws are saws designed to cut wood across the grain, as opposed to ripsaws that cut along it.
The teeth are shaped and angled to sever wood fibers cleanly rather than chisel them out.
Crosscut saws range from small hand saws for finish carpentry to large two-person saws once used for felling trees: They worked the crosscut saw back and forth until the pine toppled.
