rifled

Plundered with haste

Rifled describes a gun barrel that has spiral grooves cut into its interior, which cause a bullet to spin and fly more accurately.

The verb rifle means to cut these grooves, or more commonly, to search through something hastily and carelessly, usually looking for something to steal: Someone had rifled through my desk drawers.

If you rifle something, you take it by force or plunder it.

A rifled pass in football is one thrown hard and fast, like a bullet from a rifled barrel.
