retuning
Correcting musical pitch
Retuning is the act of tuning something again, most often a musical instrument that has drifted out of proper pitch.
Musicians retune guitars, pianos, and other instruments to restore correct intonation.
The term extends to any readjustment or recalibration: The engine needs retuning after sitting idle all winter.
In a figurative sense, retuning can describe mental or organizational realignment: The company is retuning its strategy for the new market.
