Pitch bend is a technique in electronic music for smoothly sliding a note's pitch up or down, mimicking the expressive bends possible on guitars or wind instruments.
On synthesizers and MIDI controllers, a pitch bend wheel or lever allows continuous variation rather than discrete note jumps: She pushed the pitch bend wheel up for that classic synth scream.
