mistuning
Off-key instrument state
Mistuning is the state of being out of tune, or the act of tuning something incorrectly.
In music, mistuning produces notes that deviate from their intended pitch: The piano's mistuning made the concert unbearable.
In engineering, mistuning refers to deliberate or accidental variations in the tuning of components, sometimes introduced intentionally to prevent resonance failures.
