resuscitating

Bringing back breath

Resuscitating is reviving someone or something from unconsciousness, apparent death, or a diminished state.

The term applies literally to emergency medicine—The paramedics spent ten minutes resuscitating the drowning victim—and figuratively to revival efforts of any kind: resuscitating a stalled career, resuscitating a dying language.
