repaginate

Reassign page numbers

To repaginate is to renumber the pages of a document, typically after editing has changed the layout.

Word processors repaginate automatically when text is added or deleted.

In publishing, repagination may be necessary when reformatting for a different page size or inserting new material: Adding the index forced us to repaginate the entire manuscript.
