reintubate
Insert airway twice
To reintubate is to insert a breathing tube into a patient's airway after a previous tube has been removed.
This typically happens when a patient fails to breathe adequately on their own after extubation: The patient's oxygen levels dropped and we had to reintubate.
The noun is reintubation.
