re-enact

Dramatize past events

Re-enact means to act out or perform again something that happened before.

The word applies to staged recreations of historical events—Civil War battles, crime scenes for investigators, or moments from the past brought to life by hobbyists in period costume: They re-enact the signing of the Declaration every Fourth of July.

Legislatures re-enact laws when passing them again after expiration or repeal.
