chalaza
Yolk's twisted cord
The chalaza is either of two spiral bands of tissue in an egg that anchor the yolk to the shell membrane, keeping it centered.
You can see them as whitish twisted cords when you crack an egg into a bowl.
In botany, the chalaza is the base of an ovule where the stalk attaches.
