rape kit
Forensic assault evidence
A rape kit is a package of materials used to collect physical evidence from a person who has been sexually assaulted.
Medical personnel use it to gather samples—hair, fibers, bodily fluids—that may identify the perpetrator or corroborate the victim's account.
The term also refers to the collected evidence itself: Thousands of rape kits remain untested in police storage.
Formally called a sexual assault evidence kit.
