radiotelegram

Morse code dispatch

A radiotelegram is a message transmitted by radio rather than by wire.

Before satellite communication, ships at sea and remote outposts sent radiotelegrams to communicate with the mainland: The captain sent a radiotelegram reporting their position.

The term is now largely historical.
