radiosonde

Balloon weather instrument

A radiosonde is a small instrument package carried aloft by a weather balloon, transmitting measurements of temperature, humidity, pressure, and wind as it ascends through the atmosphere.

The data helps meteorologists create vertical profiles of atmospheric conditions.

The radiosonde reached 30 kilometers before the balloon burst.
