atmospheric layers
Troposphere and beyond
The atmospheric layers are the distinct horizontal zones of Earth's atmosphere, stacked by temperature and composition.
From lowest to highest: troposphere (where weather occurs), stratosphere (containing the ozone layer), mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere.
Each layer has different characteristics affecting temperature, pressure, and the behavior of gases.
Commercial aircraft fly in the lower stratosphere.
