pulmonary arteries

Heart-to-lung conduits

Pulmonary arteries are the blood vessels that carry deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs.

They are the only arteries in the body that carry oxygen-poor blood—all others carry oxygenated blood away from the heart.

The main pulmonary artery branches into left and right vessels, one for each lung: The surgeon repaired the blocked pulmonary artery.
