prefire
Fire before seeing
To prefire is to shoot before you have visual confirmation of a target, anticipating where an enemy will appear.
The term comes from competitive video games, especially first-person shooters, where experienced players learn common positions and timing: I prefired the corner and caught him coming around.
The noun prefire refers to this technique or an instance of it.
