popouts
Things that spring
Popouts are things that pop out or emerge from a surface.
In baseball, a popout is a fly ball caught for an out—the ball pops up and the batter is retired: He hit into a popout to end the inning.
In construction, popouts are surface defects where small pieces of concrete break away, leaving shallow craters.
In design and publishing, popouts are elements that extend beyond their boundaries or appear to jump off the page.
